Junk Car Clean-up
Junk Car Removal. We've arranged to have the landscaper extract two junk cars from the wetlands. This will happen on or around May 1st 2009 weather permitting.
We will be removing two junk cars from the south wetlands behind building 12. This work will be done by Acers our landscaping company. They will be extracting the cars from the wetlands and carrying them out to the street between buildings 13 & 14. We have contracted with a towing company who will pick up the cars from the landscaper and dispose of them properly.

Smoke from nearby wetlands
Spring 2009
If you see smoke to the south of our wetlands, it's our sister association Valley Lakes 1 doing wetlands maintenance.
Valley Lakes 1 has begun maintenance of their wetlands, which includes controlled burns of their wetlands. They will burn sections, weather permitting.

Caution – Coyotes on the prowl
Spring 2009
Be aware of increased coyote activity in the Valley Lakes 2 area. A number of residents have reported a pack of 2 to 4 coyotes roaming the area. They have been seen and heard along the edge of the wetlands near the townhomes and a few sightings of a bold coyote walking down Fox Trail. We don’t know if these coyotes pose a threat to humans but they certainly pose a threat to small pets (cats & dogs) so guard your pets Day & Night.
Don’t risk injury to you, your children or your pets, avoid coyote contact.

January 2, 2008 update: The Village January 08 newsletter has additional information. They point out that wild animal problems are the responsibility of the Illinois DNR at 815-625-2968 or Lake County Animal Control at 847-377-8080. RL PD only handles cat and dog problems.

Millennium Trail update
January 2009
Preliminary work on the Millennium Trail has begun in our neighborhood. The Lake County Forest Preserve has begun engineering work on the trail from Nippersink road north along the ComEd easement up to Fairfield Road. You may notice excavating equipment and surveying flag work being done in the next few months. This is the initial effort before Trail construction. It’s estimated that the preliminary work may take as long as 6 months in order for the Forest Preserve District to get the necessary easements and permits. They’re still having some issues with crossing Wilson Road on the south end of the trail but the Forest Preserve District has decided to go ahead with Trail construction from the Round Lake Park south to Baxter. So we should see work on and off for the next few months.
More information will be added as we get it.
